And you establish prayer at the two ends of the day and the approach of the night; indeed, good deeds remove the evils; that is a Reminder for those who remember.
This verse was revealed before Messenger Muhammad's Night Journey to Paradise (Isra' Wal-Miraj). It commands him to perform prayers three times a day: at dusk, dawn, and the beginning of the night. Most verses were revealed to the Messenger during his prayers. It is commanded in verse 20: 14: "You establish prayer for Lord's remembrance." Verse 18:101 declares that those who refuse to see and hear the Book Dhikree are disbelievers destined for Hell. Similarly, verse 29: 45 commands: "You Read and convey what has been revealed to you from the Book, and you establish the prayer; indeed, prayer prevents shameful and forbidden things, and the Remembrance of Allah is the greatest. Allah knows what you are producing."
The Reminder is one of the 40 names of Adhikr. Without Adhikr, the remembrance of the Lord is impossible. Adhikr has now been codified as the Splendid Book, and without it, no one can truly become a believer. Only with Adhikr can one transform his Jinn soulmate into a believer and keep the Lord in his heart, as explained in verse 8: 48. Prayer, fasting, and pilgrimage are commanded only for the believers. Arabic Quran reading Fujjar are serving Satan, as mentioned in verses 6: 55 and 7: 40. Their prayers are unaccepted, and their deeds are not respended as stated in verse 2: 186. Instead, they will get Hellfire as a consequence of their aimless and heedless lives, as explained in verses 2: 39; 5: 10, 86; and 7: 179.
Just as there was no group of believers in Makkah during the Messenger’s time, today also there is no such group anywhere in the world. Therefore, the lone believer is commanded to read Adhikr at dusk and dawn, perform the prolonged ‘prostration of Recitation,’ help Lord by propagating Adhikr to foster harmony among mankind, promote organic farming and tree planting for the wellbeing of the 1000 communities, and engage in Jihad against hypocrites and Kuffar with Adhikr, as detailed in verses 7: 205-206 and 22: 77-78. See explanation 2: 2-5, 62; 6: 89-90; and 8: 62.
